Palak is rich in fiber and iron.Paneer is full of calcium and protein.

1. Wash palak thoroughly in a running water.

2. This step is optional. Fry paneer in a pan with 1 tsp oil for 2 to 3 mins. To keep them soft, you can also drop them in water and leave for 10 to 15 mins. Drain and set aside.

3. Boil the spinach along with the chillies for 3-4 mins. Drain it and Set aside to cool in cold water for 1-2 mins more.

4. Remove excess water

5. Grind spinach with green chilies to a smooth puree.


How to make palak paneer gravy

1. Heat a pan with oil, add cumin seeds, when they begin to crackle.

2.  Add onions and fry till they turn transparent.

3. Add ginger garlic paste and fry it for 1-2 mins or until the raw smell goes away.

4. Add tomato puree and salt, fry till they become soft.

5. Add turmeric powder, garam masala and coriander powder. Fry it for 1-2 mins on a low flame.

6. Add the palak puree, mix it and then pour half cup water and stir.

7. Add paneer and mix it gently.

8. Cook until the mixture thickens.

9. Turn off the flame.

10.  Add cream.

11.  Serve palak paneer with naan, roti or rice.


1. I also sprinkle vinegar and salt to remove the pesticide residue. Rinse a few times more. Remove the stems if they are hard

  • 2 cups tightly packed Palak (Spinach)
  • 150-200 gms Paneer (Cottage Cheese)
  • 3-4 Green chillies
  • 2 medium (roughly chopped) Onion
  • 2 Medium Tomato
  • 3/4 tbsp Coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp Garam Masala
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp Oil/ Butter
  • 1 cup Water
  • to taste Salt
  • 2 tbsp Fresh cream
