Chocolate Mocha Cake

Here's your morning a cake form!

This Mocha cake is exclusively for coffee lovers...

The coffee flavor is too pronounced and glaze is ah-ma-zzin!! 


1.    Cream butter and sugar till it's light and fluffy

2.    Add in eggs one at a time mixing thoroughly each time

3.    Add buttermilk and vanilla and mix till all combined

4.    Fold in the dry ingredients (flour+baking powder+baking soda) after sifting through a sieve

5.    Divide the batter into two and in one bowl add coffee and cocoa in another

6.    Fold gently till all combined

7.    Do not overmix

8.    Bake @180c for 30 mins or till a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean

9.    Cool the cake for 5 mins then invert it over a cooling rack to cool completely

10.       Once cooled down to room temperature mix all ingredients for the glaze together till you get a smooth flowy glaze

11.       Pour it over the cake evenly

  Ingredient List

  • 3/4 softened Butter
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 Tbsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp ( omit if using salted butter) Salt
  • 2 cups All purpose flour
  • 1 cup Buttermilk / Milk
  • 2.5 tbsp ( I like overwhelming taste of coffee so I used 3 tbsp) Coffee granules
  • 1 tsp Vinegar
  • 2.5 tbsp Cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup (For Glaze) Icing sugar
  • 2 tsp (For Glaze) Espresso powder
  • 2 tbsp hot (For Glaze) Water
