Indo Chinese Chilli Chicken

When chili chicken met Kerala porotta.

This Indian adaptation of Chinese cuisine is nothing less of a wonder!

The best version I had was in a street side stall in #civiccenterbhilai and since then chili chicken has always been in my blood!!


1.   Marinate chicken with salt, pepper, soy sauce, ginger and garlic paste, corn flour and all purpose flour.

2.   Fry the chicken after keeping it marinated for atleast an hour.

3.   Heat sesame oil. Add chopped garlic, julienned ginger, slit green chilies, cubed onions and capsicum.

4.   Cook this on high flame to retain the crunchiness.

5.   Add tomato ketchup, soy sauce, vinegar, hot chili sauce, salt and a pinch of sugar.

6.   Add cornstarch to this and the fried chicken pieces.

7.   Serve hot!


  Ingredient List

  • 2 cups Chicken
  • 1 inch julienned Ginger
  • 3-4 cloves chopped Garlic
  • 1 tsp(for marination) + 1 tsp Soy Sauce
  • 1/2 tsp(for marination) + to taste Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper
  • 1/2 cup cubes Onion
  • 1 tsp for marination Ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp Corn Flour
  • 2 tbsp(for marination) All purpose flour (maida)
  • 1 tbsp Tomato Ketchup
  • 1 tsp Vinegar
  • 1 tsp Hot Chilli Sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Sugar
  • 1/4 tsp Corn Starch
  • 2 tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 1/2 cup cubes Capsicum
  • 3 slit Green Chillies
