Prawns Roast

There are several variations of this dish across Indian peninsula, all being spicy and tangy but with a few different ingredients.

For this variation of prawns roast


·     Heat oil.

·     Splutter mustard seeds, add chopped onions and garlic, julienned ginger and curry leaves.

·     Add turmeric and red chili powder, grated coconut and tamarind puree.

·     Once the mix is fragrant, add coconut milk and bring it to a boil.

·     Add cleaned de-shelled prawns and salt.

·     Cook on low flame with the lid on.


  Ingredient List

  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 2 cups(250 gms) Prawns
  • 1 cup chopped Onions
  • 4-5 buds chopped Garlic
  • 1 inch julienned Ginger
  • 1 tbsp Coriander powder
  • 1/2 tbsp Red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tbsp Mustard seeds
  • 7-8 Curry leaves
  • 1/4 cup grated Coconut
  • 2 tbsp Tamarind puree
  • 1/4 cup Coconut Milk
  • to taste Salt
