Spinach Kofta Curry

This dish is a delicious way to incorporate the endlessly beneficial and Popeye's favorite vegetable into your meal 


For the koftas:

1.   Mix together chopped spinach, mashed potatoes, cumin seeds and salt and roll them into small balls.

2.   Dip these koftas into gram flour batter and fry them in oil or bake till they turn golden.

For the gravy:

1.   Heat oil, add cumin seeds, cloves and cinnamon. Add finely chopped onions and crushed green chilies.

2.   Cook till they turn golden brown and add ginger garlic paste. Add tomato puree, salt, turmeric and coriander powder.

3.   Cook till oil starts oozing out.

4.   Add thick yogurt and cook till the mix comes together.

5.   Add garam masala powder, water and bring the mix to a boil.

6.   Add koftas into the boiling gravy and serve immediately.


  Ingredient List

  • 1/2 cup finely chopped, FOR BALLS Spinach (Palak)
  • 1 cup mashed Potatoes
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Gram Flour
  • 2 tbsp and for deep frying Oil
  • 1 tsp, FOR GRAVY Cumin Seeds
  • 2-3 Cloves
  • 2 Cinnamon
  • 2 medium chopped Onion
  • 3-4 chopped Green chillies
  • 2 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 1/4 cup Tomato paste/puree
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1/4 cup Curd
  • 1 tsp Garam masala
  • 1/4 cup Water
