Description:-


This black forest is way too simple and the chocolate cake is so decadent! It's quite easy to put together! This is how to make it!

This cake is pretty simple and better than what you get in the bakeries! 

 

Steps:-


For the cake 
1. Cream together butter and sugar until pale yellow
2. Add in eggs one by one and mix thoroughly till nicely combined

3. Sift in your dry ingredients and whisk together your wet ingredients including mayonnaise and add to the egg mixture alternatively 1/3 at a time.
4. Once all in pour in your prepared tin and bake for 40 mins @ 175 c in a preheated oven.


For the whipping cream
1. Whip together the ingredients till you get stiff and glossy peaks.


For the cherry filling
1. Canned - pit the cherries and pour all the contents of the can in a sauce pan and simmer for about 10 mins until 1/4 cup of the syrup remains.
2. Fresh - pit your cherries and add them in a sauce pan along with a cup 1/2 cup of water and 1/2 cup of sugar and simmer for about 15
mins till only 1/4 cup of the syrup is left
3. Reserve 2 tbsps of syrup for soaking the cake layers.


ASSEMBLING
1. Place your first cake layer on your serving platter. Poke it on the top with fork and pour half of the reserved syrup and let it soak in.

2. Spread a generous amount of whipped cream on the cake layer and add 1/3 of the cherries on the cream layer evenly.
3. Place the next cake layer and repeat the same steps again. 
4. Garnish the top with some chocolate shavings.

  • 3/4 cup All purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup Cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 3/4 tsp Baking soda
  • 3/4 cup Buttermilk
  • 1/4 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/4 cup (for beautiful rich texture) Mayonnaise
  • 1/2 tbsp Vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup Butter
  • 3/4 cup Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 cup, For the whipped cream filling Whipping cream
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp (skip if using sweetened cream) Icing sugar
  • 1 cup, For cherry filling Cherries
